We’re parting ways with our very special build. Affectionately known as Dinky, this Leyland DAF T244 Expedition Truck has been our full-time home for the past four years. Designed and built entirely by us, this off-grid expedition truck has carried us through mountain passes, coastal tracks, and desert terrain. It’s more than just a vehicle — it’s a reliable companion with thousands of miles under its belt and plenty more to give.
We’ve listed Dinky for £75,000, making it one of the most affordable, tried-and-tested expedition trucks currently on the market. That price includes a full service, some final cosmetic sprucing up, and an induction weekend to walk you through all the systems, quirks, and features — so you can get to know your new home with confidence.
Built for the Road Less Travelled
Dinky is a 30-year-old ex-military, left-hand drive, 4×4 Leyland DAF T244. With a high-ratio gearbox, stainless steel exhaust system (including an exhaust brake), and upgraded turbo, this truck is built to handle demanding terrain. Underneath the rugged exterior, we’ve constructed a reinforced steel habitation box that’s served us comfortably through every season.

Why We’re Selling our Leyland DAF T244 Expedition Truck
We wish we didn’t have to sell Dinky. But our work has shifted, and we now need a longer wheelbase and a different internal configuration to suit upcoming builds. We’re already working on the new truck and plan to move into it around June, which is when Dinky would be ready to pass on to her next owner.
